     Air France Pilot Strike Over
Update:-28 September, 2014 Air France strike is over. Talks will continue. Air traffic to return to normal very slowly, 2 - 3 days. Look on the bright side, expect good airfare deals with Air France for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New York.

(What have Air France won for all this passenger inconvenience? Actually it's quiet a big deal. Low cost Air France subsidiary Transavia (40% cheaper than competition) will not be based abroad ie:- outside of France or Netherlands saving jobs. All important maintenance, crews, baggage handlers, hopefully for local citizens.

What does this say regarding airline management skills, very weak. Tax payers must be furious.

Pilot's main issue was to have Transavia, Hop and Air France pilot's all on the same pay scale and perhaps same retirement plan. Like that's going to happen. Why have a subsidiary? Sweet retirement deals are a big reason why these bloated national air carriers are suffering now a days. Air France pilots fly less hours than and more perks than Transavia subsidiary.)

Update:-25 September 2014 Meeting for all parties 3pm today. 47% of flights scheduled for today.
Negotiations failed. Strike still on.

Update:-Tuesday, 23 September Strike not waning. Management will postpone till December plans to establish bases outside of France and the Netherlands for subsidiary Transavia.
More meetings to take place Thursday, 25 September, 2014. 3pm local time.
(Out of context, Italian air traffic control strike planned for this Saturday is still on)

Update:-Air France pilot strike extended to Friday, 26, September 2014. Only 40% of flights expected to leave Monday 22 September. EasyJet add more flights.

18 September 2014 In short Air France pilot union, SNPL reject management offer and members will meet this Saturday morning to decide whether to extend strike action beyond Monday. Losses so far €10 to €15 million - US$ 13 to US $19 million.
60% of flights cancelled today. 55% tomorrow. (Not much resistance from French government, where are all the lawyers? When you need them)

Update:-Wednesday 17 September
Only 40% of flights left today.

Update:-17 September, 2014 Be prepared for this strike to be extended into next week.

Update:-Tuesday, 16 September, 2014 Nothing good to tell you  except 40% of flights cancelled compared to yesterday's 48%. Passengers told night before if flight will leave the following day via text.

Update:Sunday 52% of flights to be cancelled tomorrow.
Update:-Saturday, 13 September, 2014 Easyjet will add another thousands airline seats to cover Paris to Nice and Toulouse. 50% Of Monday's flights have been cancelled.

Update:-12 September 2014 Management cancel meeting planned for this afternoon. Talks are still planned for the week-end. More news to come out Saturday morning. Air France has a notice up. Other airlines must be rubbing hands together. Air France lawyers must be working
overtime.  Even though airline will loose millions, airline will save money when strike is on.

Update:-3 September, 2014 Another Air France pilot union will join in the strike action SPAF.

Update:-Announced today 28 August, 2014 Air France pilots will strike September 15 -22, 2014. More information to be announced. Information is vague at the moment "on a range of renewable 5 am to 23 pm" Likely to hit domestic and European flights.

This is an old festering bitter dispute.

This will likely be a national shut down, grounding of flights. By law a certain percentage of flights have to run.
Call your airline. Your flight will be brought forward, cancelled or delayed. Don't get caught in a lay over in French customs. Do you have a French visa? That way you can sleep in a hotel instead of a cot on the international arrivals floor. Flying in and out of Paris? You might want to book a hotel and cancel when fit. Hotel and car hire will be slim pickings. Perhaps SNCF will put on extra trains. Eurostar will likely be booked.
